After a week off, the guys are back to talk about the Tulsa Roughnecks FC’s two most recent road matches, including the 1-1 draw in Salt Lake City. The guys breakdown the good and bad of the two road matches. Cody offers some history on last place USL clubs. Roger talks with RJ Clark from The Blue Testament about how Swope Park are faring as they head towards the end of their playoff push. The guys offer their predictions for Saturday’s match and The Buzz’s Jeremie Poplin pops in to offer his predictions for the season. The guys also react to the news of Landon Donovan returning to MLS.

Tulsa Soccer Show – Episode 53: Finding Optimism Where We Can (with guests Brian Carroll and Carson Merk)

This week, Zach, Roger and Cody review the last week’s match in Colorado Springs and find optimism in the 1-0 loss. The guys also discuss player discipline and card status for the Roughnecks, the live testing of video review for referees and some high profile coaching changes around the league. Brian Carrol from the Tulsa Roughnecks FC drops in to talk about where the team is at and gives an update on the health and mood of players. Roger talks RGVFC with Carson Merk from Dynamo Theory to find the secret to their strong first season. The guys close out with their predictions for the weekend’s matches.

Flipping The Pitch – A Roustabouts Community Service Project

The Tulsa Roustabouts, the official supporters group of the Tulsa Roughnecks FC men’s soccer team, are partnering with YWCA Tulsa and the Roughnecks to revitalize two disused baseball fields at 17th Street and Memorial Drive. This service project, called “Flipping the Pitch,” will begin in September and turn the lot into two or three community soccer fields, or “pitches.” Owned by YWCA Tulsa, the baseball fields have gone unused for several years and become overgrown with brush, and are now in need of major repair. Volunteers from the Roustabouts will start clearing the lot next month to prepare for the development of the pitches.

Tulsa Soccer Show – Episode 52: Looking Forward (with guests Chad Hollingsworth and Roland Vargish)

This week, Zach, Roger and Cody review the (almost) three matches since the last episode, including the rescheduling of the rained out match against Swope Park Rangers. The guys discuss Tulsa’s narrow chances at playoffs and what it would take to do it, as unlikely as it may be. The guys welcome Chad Hollingsworth of Scratching the Pitch and The USL Show to discuss upcoming league changes from the 2016 USL midseason meetings and the future of TRFC in Division 2 soccer. Roger talks with Roland Vargish, commentator for Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC and writer, to talk about the Switchbacks and what Tulsa can expect for this week. The guys close it out with a discussion about the NASL’s Rayo OKC who’ve been making waves on Twitter after news that much of the staff were no longer with the club and the head coach resigned.

Roger interviews Chris Cortez, forward for Arizona United SC, on his experiences in the USL ahead of Tulsa Roughnecks FC’s match against AZU on Saturday. The guys take a listener question about the benefits of being an independent USL before devolving into a larger discussion of D2 status for the USL. The guys wrapped up the hour with Mason Robbins, a former-podcast co-host as well as co-founder of the Tulsa Roustabouts and now a consultant for the Tulsa Roughnecks FC.
